Taylor Swift 2022 American Music Awards History Most Awarded Artist

Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at last night's 2022 American Music Awards to accept not one, not two, but six awards.

The singer won every category she was nominated in, including Favorite Pop Album for Red (Taylor's Version)—one of six albums she famously rerecorded after entertainment executive Scooter Braun purchased her entire music catalog and sold it for more than $300 million to Shamrock Holdings without her knowledge.

Swift, who was a vision in gold, was emotional as she held her trophies onstage and spoke to the crowd.

"Wow. This album is a rerecorded album, and I cannot tell you how much my rerecorded albums mean to me, but I never expected or assumed that they would mean anything to you," she said. "So I can't thank you enough for caring about this album that I'm so proud of. I have some people who made this happen who I really want to thank."

She thanked everyone who was featured in and helped create the album, as well as close friend and "brilliant director Blake Lively" who directed her "I Bet You Think About Me" music video.

"I have the fans to thank, essentially, for my happiness. And I love you more than I can say. I cannot express how unbelievable it is to me that I still get to do this and that you still care. So, thank you, underlined with 13 exclamation points," Swift said during her Artist of the Year speech.

Swift made the whole room shimmer at the awards show in a studded gold jumpsuit by The Blonds featuring a plunging halter neckline and built-in belt. In true karma-loving Swift fashion, she accessorized with gold dagger earrings by Vram ("Karma is a god / Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend / Karma's a relaxing thought") and chain bracelets by Delfina Delettrez.

The "Anti-Hero" singer also won awards for Favorite Country Album for Red (Taylor’s Version), Favorite Music Video for All Too Well: The Short Film, Favorite Pop Female Artist, and Favorite Country Female Artist.

The 32-year-old has now won a total of 40 AMAs, making her the most-awarded artist in AMAs history. She is followed by Michael Jackson, who had 26 wins, and Whitney Houston, who had 22.

Swift's wins come after fans were left without being able to buy early tickets for her Eras Tour due to a Ticketmaster failure. The singer admitted in an Instagram Story that she is furious about the company's mistake and is figuring out a way to make it easier for her fans to purchase tickets.
