Salma Hayek is ready for the Olympics. The Frida actress looked every inch the track star on Tuesday, when she was one of the few stars chosen to carry the Olympic torch ahead of the 2024 games in Paris.
“Yesterday, I had the honour of carrying the Olympic flame, a symbol of light, hope, peace, and unity,” Hayek wrote on her Instagram account. “If you believe in these values, know that you were with me every step of the way. As I passed the torch and took part in the relay, I was proud to represent the enduring spirit of the Olympics, bringing light, hope, and unity to all.”
With her tongue firmly placed in her cheek, the Academy Award nominee blasted Eminem’s 'Lose Yourself' as she rode in a car on her way to the event. In a different video, she showed off her cheerleading moves when she did an impressive cartwheel. Throughout it all, she looked the part of a world-class athlete in her bright sport-luxe set.
For the relay, Hayek wore a white tracksuit with fiery-coloured trim detail along the arms of the top. The front of her long-sleeved top read “Relais de la flamme olympique” (which translates from French as “Olympic torch relay”), and it featured the Paris 2024 logo, as well as the five Olympic rings, which decorated both the front and back of the shirt.
To keep the ensemble monochromatic, Hayek wore matching white trousers that featured a black buckle in the front, and she threw on a pair of chunky trainers as well. To complete the look, she tied her hair into a long bubble ponytail, and she accessorised with golden earrings.
The Olympic Games will officially commence on 26 July, with the opening ceremony taking place along the River Seine.
