After Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt is taking a break.
The actor—who has helped bring us The Devil Wears Prada, A Quiet Place, Mary Poppins Returns, and so much more—revealed she is taking a year off from acting to focus on her family.
On the latest episode of the Table for Two podcast, she said: “This year, I’m not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little.”
Blunt shares kids Hazel, nine, and Violet, seven, with husband John Krasinski. The actors celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary this past Monday.
“And it’s ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones,” she said.
Blunt also opened up in the podcast about how she and Krasinski typically spend time together at home.
“It’s usually the morning. We [rescued] a puppy who’s absolutely beautiful … I wasn’t wanting to get a dog, but the kids were pushing for it and John was up for it. I don’t mind getting up early with this puppy because it means that John and I can kind of talk in the morning and catch up and really talk before the kids are up and everything,” she said.
The actress also admitted, “I love watching things like The Voice. I mean, we love The Voice.”
Blunt, Krasinski, and their girls live in Brooklyn—coincidentally, in the same building as Blunt’s Oppenheimer costar Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso. Blunt said the families now have Sunday night dinners together, and their kids “love each other.”
