Britney Spears did not hold back when talking about her family following rumors that her brother, Bryan Spears, was set to attend her and Sam Asghari's wedding last week.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the singer said that not only did she not invite Bryan to join in on her big day, but she also couldn't drink alcohol at her party, because for 13 years, Bryan and their father, Jamie Spears, didn't allow her to.
Britney and Asghari wed last Thursday at their home in Thousand Oaks, California. Guests included their close friends and various stars, among them Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez, and Madonna. Britney's estranged family, however, was not there.
On Instagram, Bryan's girlfriend, Amber Lynn Conklin, said the reason he didn't attend his sister's nuptials was because his daughter Lexie's graduation from elementary school was at the same time.
"Ironically Lexie had her 5th grade graduation & we couldn't help the timings," she wrote, adding that "Bryan felt terrible having to choose but he had to be there for his daughter."
Conklin said Bryan "sent his love to" Britney and that the two were "so sad to miss such an important moment but so so happy for Britney and Sam's Marriage!"
But in her own post, Britney denied that Bryan was invited and accused him of never being on her side.
"You were never invited to my wedding so why even respond ?? Do you honestly think I want my brother there whole told me no to a Jack and coke for 4 years … what ???" Britney wrote.
Earlier in the post, she said that Bryan would drink a Jack and Coke with his shrimp salad after every one of her shows in Las Vegas, while she headlined a four-year residency at Planet Hollywood, but she was never allowed to have a sip of alcohol.
"[Bryan] would never even let me have a sip … you let your 5-year-old daughter put her hand in her mother's wine and be silly yet when I just get off the stage for the 3rd time that week and my little feet have been in heels I walk to the only table in my suit and you tell me no … my question is this WHY????" she wrote.
The singer accused Bryan of being on the same power trip as their dad, who controlled her conservatorship for 13 years.
"Let's talk about it … is it the powerful feeling dad got my whole life in literally making me feel like absolutely nothing," Britney wrote.
Going back to why she didn't invite Bryan to the wedding, she said she didn't feel like pretending that everything is okay between them.
"If we were going to drink together at the wedding and play the classy roles for the children like you and mom [Lynne Spears] do as you people literally hid coffee and alcohol when I would come home ... you hurt me and you know it !!!" she wrote.
Britney added that she hasn't been able to drink even after her conservatorship ended, because now her body can't take it.
"I can't drink a lot … true story - the 13 years of being in the conservatorship I was drug tested at least 3 times a week … I don't even really like alcohol," she said. But last month, when she went to Vegas, she said she was excited to "have my first vodka and Sprite."
She continued, "No lie, I literally drank half the cup and suddenly my stomach went into a knot so my friend finished the drink … at the restaurant, I was like 'OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH' my stomach fell like a freaking brick !!!"
Britney said she couldn't leave her room for two days because of it, adding, "It's pretty funny my family doing what they did to me with drug testing me that whole time and yet I can't stand most alcohol !!!"
She continued, "I wish I could play that bad girl my family want me to play but honestly … I'm too old for this sh** !!!"
In her post, the star also called out her brother for the comments he made on the podcast As NOT Seen on TV in July 2020, during which he spoke about her conservatorship and their relationship.
At one point during the interview, host Drew Plotkin asked Bryan why the Spears family won't just let Britney be, to which Bryan responded that Britney did not have the skills to handle life on her own.
Britney wrote, "Your response [to the podcast question] was … 'she can't even make a dinner reservation…' None of you ever wanted it to end because you all loved telling me what to do and treating me like absolutely nothing !!!"
She ended her post with a strong message to her estranged brother.
"I know you're my blood and yes blood runs deep but no family of mine would do what you guys did to me," Britney wrote.
