Word has it that the Duchess of Cambridge's favourite skincare product is organic rosehip oil – and she's in good company. Like Miranda Kerr, who has certified organic rosehip products in her own beauty line, Kora Organics; and Gwyneth Paltrow (those famous faces with similarly clear complexions), Kate apparently loves the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil.

Us Weekly reported back in 2017 that "Kate continues to use rosehip oil in her daily skincare regiment," according to a source close to the Duchess. "She loves the effect is has on her skin. [Her mother] Carole [Middleton] is also a fan."

So, at £19.50 for her favourite rosehip oil, what's all the fuss about?

It's super moisturising

Firstly, rosehip oil is a superior moisturiser for the skin (and hair, if you want to make it multipurpose). Containing 80 per cent essential fatty acids (omegas 6 and 9), it instantly quenches dehydrated skin leaving it soft and smooth. The visual effect therefore is restored radiance, granting that Gwyneth-like glow without the facial.

It's for this reason rosehip oil is beneficial for your body care, too, and Miranda Kerr swears by it for the prevention of stretch marks. The model uses her Kora Organics Noni Glow Body Oil religiously throughout pregnancy. “The rosehip is so helpful in minimising the stretch marks,” she explains.

It naturally fights the ageing process

Rosehip seeds are potent antioxidants, which we know fight ageing by combating free radical damage (our skin's worst enemy). Rosehip seed oil is also rich in vitamin A, the gold star vitamin for anti-ageing. Why? It improves the skin's moisture levels, reduces wrinkles and may help to promote the production of skin-building compounds.

It protects against pollution

Pollutants (from car fumes to UV rays and blue light exposure – we're surrounded by them) cause free radicals to become more harmful to our skin. Given that rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants it helps to combat oxidative damage, and can reinforce your skin's barrier, preventing future damage, too.

Alongside the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil (£19.50), Bazaar also rates The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil (£9) and the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil
(£24). Apply the oil to your face at night as the last step in your skincare routine either on top of, or instead of, your moisturiser. Smooth any excess over the back of your hands and on your cuticles.
