The Plastics may wear pink on Wednesdays, but Megan Thee Stallion has clearly made purple the color for Mondays.
There were loads of Mean Girls references on the red carpet Monday night, at the premiere of the 2024 Mean Girls musical film. But Megan Thee Stallion totally surprised us with her translucent purple trumpet gown, courtesy of the Julian Mendez costume gallery.
Designed by Natalia Barzilai and styled by the “WAP” rapper’s frequent stylist Eric Archibald, the form-fitting dress featured a plunging, horseshoe-shaped neckline, which was adorned with lavender gems that continued up the straps of the ensemble. Although it was barely visible, Megan also wore a skin-colored corset underneath the bodice, and her pleated skirt fell in a circular train around her.
To match the dress, Megan flashed lavender nails, courtesy of artist Coca Michelle. She also rocked bleached-blonde curls, thanks to hairstylist Kellon Deryck.
The Grammy winner has been a big part of the Mean Girls promo tour, thanks to her appearance on the film’s lead single, “Not My Fault,” with Reneé Rapp, who stars in the movie as Regina George.
A few days before the premiere, Megan made a cheeky reference to the original 2004 comedy on Instagram. Fans of the Lindsay Lohan–starring film will remember the scene in which Regina finds her T-shirt vandalized, with holes cut out at the breasts, and decides to put it on anyway and walk around with her bright purple bra showing, inspiring her schoolmates to adopt the style as well. Megan re-created the look for the “Not My Fault” video and shared stills of the outfit on Instagram, writing, “It wouldn’t be me if I aint cause commotion 💁🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ get in hotties we’re going to watch @meangirls 💞.”
