New fashion startup La Ligne is here to make waves (or lines, if you will) by bridging the gap between a brand that feels luxe and looks timeless, but doesn't max out your credit card. Founded by veteran fashion editors Meredith Melling and Valerie Boster and Rag & Bone alum Molly Howard, La Ligne is taking fashion's enduring fascination with stripes and turning it into a direct-to-consumer label inspired by the simplicity of the line.
La Ligne offers two collections—the Essentials, which consists of classic wardrobe staples and is available year-round, and Edition, which includes trend-forward items released on a seasonal basis. Every piece will include a variation on stripes whether in the form of a Parisian-inspired Breton sweater or a subtle tuxedo stripe pant.
"No matter the season, stripes have proven to be timeless and classic staples. With La Ligne, our goal is to become synonymous with the stripe, and continuously explore its possibilities," co-founder Valerie Boster explains, "To that end, our Edition collection allows us to push the graphic forward, while our Essentials line offers those go-to pieces that every woman needs in her wardrobe." From t-shirts to button-downs, dresses, pants and skirts, the entire collection ranges in price from $85 - $550, with most of the pieces retailing from $100 - $300.
La Ligne's direct-to-consumer structure allows the pieces, most of which are produced in New York City, to be made with quality fabrics while avoiding double mark-up price points. It follows in the model of growing e-commerce focused brands like Everlane. La Ligne will be available to shop online exclusively at lalignenyc.com and Net-A-Porter.
