Prince Harry New Black Ring Reason

Royal watchers have noticed that Prince Harry has been wearing an unexpected accessory during his royal tour of Australia with Meghan Markle. While making rounds in Melbourne, the Duke of Sussex was noticeably sporting a mysterious black ring on his right hand.

Tabloids speculated what the new accessory could possibly be for. Was it a gift from Meghan? Was it a sentimental piece of jewelry? Neither, actually.

People confirms that Harry's black ring is a sleep and activity tracker by Oura. The accessory tracks the wearer's snoozing habits and shares the data to an app on the person's smart phone. (Imagine a Fitbit you can wear on your finger.)

The Duke of Sussex is apparently wearing the "Heritage" style in titanium, according to People. The piece starts at $299 on Oura's website.

Fitness tech company Motiv also has its own version of the ring, which comes in dark gray and rose gold.

In addition to the smart ring, Harry also wears his wedding ring, which he received when he and Meghan said "I do" in May. The bands are from Cleave and Company, the same jeweler behind Markle's engagement ring. Harry's is platinum with a textured finish, while Meghan's is made from Welsh gold, a royal wedding tradition.

Although it seems like a no-brainer for the Duke of Sussex to wear his wedding band, it actually breaks tradition from other married men in the royal family.

His brother, Prince William, and grandfather, Prince Philip, don't wear wedding rings. However, his dad, Prince Charles, decided to wear a wedding band for his marriages to both Princess Diana and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
