Aubrey Plaza brought her sultry, dark style to the red carpet at the 75th Primetime Emmys tonight.
For her first major award show of the year, the actor arrived at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater in a stunning, silky powder-yellow gown from Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection—which, quite unexpectedly, was adorned with a giant silver dressmaker pin just above the chest. The oversize accessory was pinned to the bodice, which featured a dramatic square neckline that looked like a folded piece of gown, ready to be completed.
The skirt of the gown went down to Plaza’s ankles, revealing her chunky golden platform sandals by Alexandre Birman. It featured a high slit on the back, and the back of the dress was open, held together by dainty spaghetti straps and showing off a hint of tasteful sideboob.
The actor accessorized the look simply, with large gold hoop earrings from Effy, black liner, and a deep burgundy lip. Her hair was styled in a half-up, half-down ’do.
Plaza, whose first big break was on NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, jumped back into the spotlight last year as Harper in season two of The White Lotus. After wrapping up filming for the buzzy HBO anthology series last year, the actor made her way to the stage, where she starred in a passionate, angry, fantastic play by John Patrick Shanley, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, with Christopher Abbott.
Plaza is nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, for her White Lotus performance, and is up against four of her A-list costars from the show: Jennifer Coolidge, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Simona Tabasco. (Rounding out the category are Elizabeth Debicki, Rhea Seehorn, and J. Smith-Cameron.)
That’s five of the 23 Emmy nods the dark comedy-drama earned this year. The White Lotus already won Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) at the Creative Arts Emmys last week, as well as Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling and Outstanding Music Supervision.
