Vivienne Westwood has celebrated the 10-year anniversary of that famous Sex and the City wedding dress by creating a series of ready-to-wear pieces inspired by the look.
The 2008 film saw Carrie Bradshaw swap an understated vintage skirt suit for a show-stopping voluminous gown by Westwood. The Cloud dress was first seen in the brand's Gold Label 2007-08 collection and was re-designed by the designer specifically for the character. The corset top was created in gold-backed ivory silk-satin duchess and the skirt from metres of ivory silk Radzimir taffeta, creating an exaggerated silhouette, nipped-in waist and a pointed sculptural bust.
The brand has since launched the Wilma cocktail dress in three different styles and the Wilma corset, all made using the Wilma cutting system that Westwood used to create the original look. The results are a strapless printed style, a sculpted shift dress and a chic button-through shirt dress. The corsets, available in black and red, will look perfect styled with high-waisted wide-leg trousers or cigarette pants.
