Keira Knightley On Why She Now Refuses To Do Nude Scenes

Keira Knightley has admitted that while she’s “comfortable” with her body, she no longer wants to nude scenes, preferring to use a body double instead.

The actress, 34, who shares two daughters with husband James Righton – Edie, four, and Delilah, born last year – told Financial Times: "The nipples droop!"

The mother-of-two went on to explain: "I always felt completely comfortable doing it when I was younger. I never did anything that I didn’t feel comfortable doing.

"I'm really happy with my body. It's done an amazing thing. But I also don't want to stand there in front of a whole film crew...

"That was a choice [to not do nude scenes anymore]. I get to choose the body double.”

Knightley, who is currently promoting her new film Misbehaviour, an upcoming comedy-drama based on a group of women who plan to disrupt the 1970 Miss World beauty contest, has stripped down for roles in the past.

Speaking about picking her body double, she said: "It is an interesting selection process! It kind of goes like, 'That's a little bit like you, but better.

“'She has a lovely body, so she can do this'... then I get final approval of what the edit is.”

The actress also shared her fears that certain risqué scenes could be added to porn sites without context.

"It used to be that you’d do a sex scene in isolation with the film, and it would make sense,” she explained.

"And maybe a paper would put it somewhere but, ultimately, that would be it.

"But now, you can take the whole thing and put it in a completely different thing, and it’s on some porn site."

She added that while she’s removed her clothes for several scenes in her past movies – including TheDuchess (2008) and Domino (2005) – she felt they never “went too far”.

In 2011, the British actress told Jonathon Ross that her nude policy was restricted to the top half only.

“I say, ‘You can have the top half but you can’t have the bottom half’, and it kind of works quite well,” she revealed, referencing her strip-tease scene in Domino.
