Katie Holmes often relies on the basics to put her signature effortless outfits together, and her most recent street style look is no different.
This week, the actress was spotted in New York wearing her go-to autumn/winter ensemble of an elegant coat paired her favoured wide-leg jean style, a practical pair of leather flats and the Manu Atelier Cambon bag.
While Holmes has championed the classic camel wool coat in the past, this time she embraced tonal dressing in a vibrant green design from affordable British womenswear brand Aligne. Designed with padded shoulders and a sophisticated square silhouette, the brand's Stella Wool Coat has an oversized fit and an elegant mid-calf length. For a polished take on statement outerwear, Holmes paired the coat with Aligne's Clay Waisted Cardigan in the same olive hue.
Holmes' green moment comes after olive and khaki tones dominated the autumn/winter 2024 runways. From understated earthy shades to brighter greens that make for a more striking take on the trend, the versatile colour was seen across coats, dresses and separates at the likes of Chloé, Gucci, Burberry and Ferragamo.
If you're not up for wearing the colour head-to-toe, take Holmes' lead and wear one or two key pieces dressed down with denim. And for more outerwear inspiration, see our round-up of the season's best wool coats to invest in before the cold weather arrives.
