Is there anyone who embodies rich mom energy quite like Irina Shayk? The supermodel was spotted picking up her seven-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine, in New York City on Thursday—and she looked fabulously cool doing so.
Achieving rich mom energy—a term coined by TikTok influencer Tinx—isn’t so different from successfully pulling off the quiet luxury trend. A “rich mom” doesn’t necessarily have a stacked bank account. Instead, she needs a curated wardrobe of poised, elegant, and no-fuss pieces that exude luxury without relying on logos. And yesterday, Shayk clearly had that box checked.
She wore a long slouchy black cardigan that reached as far down as her ankles. It bore a shawl collar, a puffy waffle knit texture, and roomy pockets at both sides. She paired the cardigan with black leather knee-high boots with a towering tapered heel, plus black sunglasses and large silver hoop earrings. The cherry on top? She cradled her small black pup in one arm like an accessory, while carrying her daughter’s sequined pink rainbow backpack in the other.
Shayk shares Lea with ex Bradley Cooper. In an interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s May 2023 cover story, the model opened up about her modern perspective on motherhood. “Motherhood definitely shined a light on me, [like] ‘Oh, you’re a mother, you’re busy, but you still have time for yourself and you don’t have to change who you are,’ ” she said. “Sometimes I wake up and I feel cute and I think, ‘Oh, should I put these pictures out on social media?’ One voice says, ‘Oh, but people will say, ‘You’re a mother.’ And I’m like, ‘But what does it mean?’ My example is Emily Ratajkowski. She’s always sexy and feminine and all about loving your body. Maybe I’m not so vocal about it, but I’m totally on the same wavelength: You’re a mother, but it doesn’t mean you cannot go outside in a tiny little skirt or put a sexy picture up.”
