For months, many designers have been torn between their political views and the question of dressing future First Lady Melania Trump. Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia, however, decided to take the conversation in a new direction with a collection inspired by Bernie Sanders.
Balenciaga's Fall 2017 menswear collection hit the runway this morning featuring gear inspired by Sanders's campaign logo, with pieces featuring a similar font and red and white curved lines.
From bomber jackets and hoodies to blanket scarfs and pins, the Balenciaga 2017 gear was basically an ode to Bernie Bros everywhere. The real missed opportunity here, of course, was making the logo "Balenciaga 2017" instead of "Bernlenciaga 2017" but I'm sure the bros will forgive this oversight.
Can we expect similar political fashion statements from the upcoming womenswear collections? Perhaps some pantsuits inspired by HRC?
